ROPESYS rope inspection Disney Skyliner – 24/7 safety at Walt Disney World Resort.
The year 2026 began with full commitment for ROTEC and ROPESYS. While the development and production of the machines were restarted, international customer visits were on the agenda.
At the beginning of the year, Dr. Martin Wehr traveled to the USA to personally oversee various projects and clients. A particular focus was on the Disney Skyliner at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida.

The Disney Skyliner is a key component of the resort’s transportation infrastructure. With nearly 300 Omega IV 10-berth cabins, it connects, among other things, Epcot, the Riviera Resort, Caribbean Beach, Hollywood Studios, and Pop Century.
Since millions of passengers are transported every year, the safety and availability of the system is particularly important. Therefore, ROPESYS rope testing devices are used on all three lines.
The devices were supplied by the rope manufacturer FATZER AG (Switzerland) and integrated directly into the operation. This allows the three rope loops to be monitored continuously – around the clock and in real time.
On-site calibration saves time and costs
Another advantage during the US visit was ROPESYS’ on-site calibration. The devices can be checked and calibrated directly at the customer’s location. This eliminates costly and time-consuming shipping, avoids downtime, and eliminates transport risks.
For users like Knight Equipment Co. or Doppelmayr CableCar at the Disney Skyliner, this means maximum availability of testing equipment and a clear time and cost advantage.
Knight Equipment Co. – a strong local partner
During the trip, Dr. Wehr also visited Knight Equipment Co. in Missouri. Justin Knight and his team splice and test cable cars throughout the USA and have relied on the full range of ROPESYS rope testing equipment for years.
The collaboration demonstrates how flexibly and practically the systems can be used internationally.
Disney Skyliner as a benchmark for modern rope monitoring
The cable inspection on the Disney Skyliner impressively demonstrates the importance of continuous monitoring in heavily used cable car systems. Permanent monitoring and real-time analysis ensure a high level of transparency and safety.
For complex, heavily used systems, this form of rope testing is increasingly becoming the standard.
ROPESYS rope testing devices thus make a crucial contribution to the safety, availability and cost-effectiveness of modern cable car systems worldwide.
