The 30-minute SWR documentary “Seilbahnchecker” focuses on rope inspections – carried out using the high-tech system from ROPESYS. The camera follows our experts as they inspect two cable cars: the historic Predigtstuhlbahn in Bad Reichenhall and the 3S-Bahn in Koblenz.
Rope safety since 1928 – technically rethought
The Predigtstuhl cable car is a true piece of technical history—but it still has to be safe. This is where ROPESYS comes in: Our testing systems enable detailed cable inspections, including state-of-the-art magnetic induction measurement technology.
Comprehensive rope inspection with ROPESYS
For many years, the historic railway has been inspected by independent experts – including our partner company ROTEC. This involves more than just the suspension cable: the control system, mechanics, statics, and fire protection are also inspected. Because only a technically sound condition ensures the operating license.
Magnetic inductive rope testing in action
Visual inspection isn’t enough. Therefore, we also conduct a magnetic inspection of the rope’s interior using our ROPESYS device. This creates a precise magnetic field around the rope, revealing any weak spots. Deviations from the target condition can be measured live as a stray field – contactless, in 3D, and wirelessly.
Real-time data analysis via the ROPESYS Cloud
The initial evaluation takes place directly on-site: A laptop receives live data during the journey. An AI-supported analysis then performs the complete evaluation – securely and efficiently via the ROPESYS Cloud. This allows weak points to be identified early and downtime to be avoided.
Cable car safety thought globally
Whether in Germany or worldwide – ROPESYS ensures safe cable car operations with state-of-the-art systems. Our solutions are also in use in Bolivia: In the city of La Paz, with a population of one million, they support the maintenance of one of the world’s largest urban cable car networks.
