Rope inspection in the amusement park – ROPESYS technology ensures safety.

Regular inspection of hoist ropes in amusement parks is an important part of ride safety. Our ROPESYS rope testing device was recently used on the 80-meter-high “Fortress Tower” freefall ride at the Cannstatter Wasen fairground.

Maximum precision was required, as the area was simultaneously being prepared for the folk festival. Before the first passengers could use the tower, all the hoisting cables had to be inspected and confirmed as safe.

Why a lifting rope inspection is so important

Ropes in amusement parks carry enormous loads and are subjected to considerable stress during every operation. To prevent any risks, they must be inspected regularly. The ROPESYS rope testing device detects even the smallest wire breaks or signs of material fatigue.

Furthermore, it delivers precise results immediately, allowing operators to react quickly. A short video from our colleague shows the inspection process directly at the tower, while the lively activity on the festival grounds is already beginning in the background.

Technology meets experience

The “Fortress Tower” is one of the tallest mobile freefall towers in Germany. The gondola is pulled up to a height of almost 80 meters before the freefall begins. To ensure this experience remains safe, all ropes must be reliably inspected.

This is precisely where ROPESYS technology demonstrates its strength: it combines technical expertise with high practical usability and ensures that operators can rely on maximum safety.

Examinations under special conditions

Inspections of mobile structures such as amusement rides at fairs require a great deal of experience and adaptability. Every construction is different, and the conditions at fairgrounds are often cramped and time-constrained.

Nevertheless, our system can perform the measurements precisely, even when the setup is running in parallel. This ensures that neither personnel nor visitors are put at risk.

Diverse application areas of ROPESYS technology

Our devices are used not only on freefall towers, but also on roller coasters, swings, and other amusement rides. Both fixed and mobile installations can be inspected with them. This allows operators to detect potential damage early and extend the lifespan of their ropes.

The result: greater security, trust, and reliability – even under demanding conditions.

Security through state-of-the-art testing technology.

The application at the freefall tower demonstrates how versatile ROPESYS technology is. While visitors enjoy the festival, our systems make a crucial contribution to safety in the background.

Every measurement provides valuable data that can be used to further optimize the testing technology. This is why ROPESYS stands for innovation, precision, and safety – worldwide.

ROPESYS – Safety at the highest level. Made by engineers in Germany.
