PSA safety training and company outing at Holcim.
On October 1, 2025, the ROTEC team participated in the annual PSAgA training course at Holcim Cement. The training is mandatory for everyone who has to work at heights.
During the training, participants practiced both rescuing injured colleagues and self-rescue. The practical training was realistic and systematic, ensuring that safety measures truly work in an emergency.
Why practical training is important
Safety is our top priority, and that’s why we place great importance on regular training. Through these exercises, employees not only gain routine, but also build trust in one another.
This allows for faster and safer decisions to be made in critical situations. Furthermore, practicing together strengthens team spirit.
Company outing with factory tour
Afterwards, the annual company outing took place, and Holcim provided a comprehensive factory tour. During the tour, the operator demonstrated the complete production process, from limestone mining at Plettenberg and transportation via cable car to cement production and packaging.
What was particularly impressive was that since its commissioning in 2020, the cable car has even been recovering energy and supplying electricity for production.
Sustainability in practice
During the tour, the participants gained valuable insights into the topic of sustainability. Holcim uses alternative fuels, which reduces the consumption of fossil fuels. Furthermore, the exhaust gases are filtered so thoroughly that only about 20 kg of ash are produced annually.
Overall, the company has been able to reduce nitrogen oxide emissions by approximately one third since 2012, and thus the levels are significantly below the legal requirements.
Transparency and responsibility
Holcim has its emissions data regularly audited, and the results are publicly accessible. This transparency demonstrates that economic production and environmental responsibility are equally possible.
This was an important insight for our ROTEC team, as it allows us to better evaluate technical testing tasks in the context of ecological framework conditions.
Joint conclusion and summary
The day ended with a joint dinner at the Naboo restaurant in Balingen, where the experiences were discussed lively once again. Overall, the PSA safety training and the company outing at Holcim demonstrated that further training, modern technology, and teamwork go hand in hand.
ROTEC provides testing expertise, and ROPESYS provides the measurement technology – together we ensure safety and reliability.
ROPESYS – Safety at the highest level. Made by engineers in Germany.
