What is FALCON?
Ford FALCON. SpaceX FALCON. Dassault FALCON. Atari FALCON.
The name FALCON appears across a wide range of industries. Sometimes it refers to a car, at other times to a rocket, an aircraft, or modern technology. But what lies behind this choice of name?
The answer lies not in technology, but in nature.
“Falcon” is the English word for *Falke*. It usually refers to the peregrine falcon, a bird of prey that has long been synonymous with extraordinary abilities.
A hunter with impressive perception
The peregrine falcon is the fastest bird in the world. In a dive, it reaches speeds of over 300 km/h.
Even more remarkable is its perception. Studies show that peregrine falcons can detect flicker rates of up to approximately 129 hertz. As a result, they perceive movement with significantly greater precision and fluidity than humans do.
Even at high speed, the falcon can track its prey precisely and react with lightning speed.
Why the name FALCON is used so frequently
The falcon is a symbol of precision, speed, and clear perception.
That is precisely why the name FALCON is used in many technical fields. It conveys qualities that are important for development and technology.
The name conveys this meaning without many words.
The inspiration behind the name
During the development of our new optical camera system, the question also arose as to which name best reflects these characteristics.
The choice ultimately fell on ROPESYS FALCON.
Nicht wegen der Geschwindigkeit des Tieres, sondern wegen seiner Fähigkeit, kleinste Details zuverlässig wahrzunehmen und präzise zu verfolgen.
This characteristic was the central inspiration. Sometimes a name comes from nature.
