Bursa Teleferik: ROPESYS R58 training at a world-record-breaking cable car system.
An 8.8-kilometer cable car line, an elevation gain of around 1,400 meters, and 45 towers: the Bursa Teleferik in Turkey ranks among the world’s extraordinary cable car systems.
The line, built by the ropeway manufacturer LEITNER, connects the major city of Bursa with Mount Uludağ and is considered the longest monocable gondola lift in the world.
Staff at Bursa Teleferik recently took part in a hands-on training session on the ROPESYS R58 rope testing device.
Dr. Martin Wehr conducted the training directly at the system, demonstrating the practical application of the device.
ROPESYS R58 training directly at the system
Bursa Teleferik connects Bursa with the popular recreation and ski area of Uludağ.
The route, just under nine kilometers long, runs over numerous cable car towers and overcomes an elevation difference of around 1,400 meters.
The training session with the ROPESYS R58 therefore went beyond the mere operation of the rope testing device. The primary focus was on the practical application of magnetic rope testing under the specific conditions of the facility itself.
Magnetic rope inspection with the ROPESYS R58
The ROPESYS R58 rope testing device is designed for the magnetic testing of wire ropes.
In the process, the device detects changes in the rope and provides measurement data on the condition of the wire rope.
Reliable monitoring of the steel cables is particularly important for a long and intensively used cable car system.
On-site training enables employees to familiarize themselves with the ROPESYS R58 under real-world conditions and correctly evaluate the measurement signals.

The deployment in Bursa is another example of the global use of ROPESYS rope testing devices on various installations.
